It is a very exciting time for rugby at St. Hilda’s. We had a very successful season under the watchful eye of Kamran Sharifi, we successfully fought a tough battle to avoid relegation and the team is set to be on the up and up from here. Some highlights of this season involve a wonderful 90 yard try from Samuel Russell with at least three quarters of the college cheering him on from the sidelines, reaching the semi finals of the summer sevens tournament after a first class debut from “Henry Bushell” and Henry Hunt self diagnosing himself with a fractured collar bone and deciding the best treatment was an afternoon at Turf. We also excelled in the mixed touch rugby; despite being the height of exam season, Hilda’s provided two teams, one reached the quarter-finals and the other making it to the semi-final. All in all, the rugby may sometimes be of a questionable standard but what we occasionally find ourselves lacking in sporting excellence on the field we more than make up for by the excellence of the team off the field.
