Poppy Price (LGBTQ Officer)
I’m Poppy (she/her) and I’m a third year studying Classics. My role as LGBTQ officer is to support LGBTQ members of the JCR in both a social, political and welfare role. I also represent LGBTQ students to the college and on the JCR committee. I’m available to all members of the JCR via Facebook messenger or by email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Within college, I organise various informal social events (such as weekly drinks in the college bar and crewdates), alongside my biggest social responsibility: the St Hilda’s Queer Bop! This is the biggest bop of the year, happening in Hilary term at the end of St Hilda’s Feminist Festival. It’s a celebration of all things LGBTQ and a chance for students to openly express themselves in safe and super fun space. I also try my best to promote events from the wider university LGBTQSoc, such as the weekly society drinks. If you’re ever worried about going to an event alone, let me know and I can go with you or find you someone else who’s interested.
LGBTQ Officer is one of the welfare roles on JCR committe, so I attend college’s Welfare Committee (a mix of staff and students) and am also a fully trained Peer Supporter. Please do get in touch if you have any welfare concerns, regardless of if they are specifically related to being LGBTQ or not. I’m also here as an advocate for LGBTQ students, so again get in touch if you have any issues that you would like help with addressing, be these with a fellow student or with the college.
