Yussef Robinson (BME Officer):
I’ll be doing my best to represent the BME students at St. Hilda’s. I’ll be working to ensure the committee as a whole is attempting to assist BME liberation, and I’ll personally be organising socials in college. I’ll also be spreading information about different cultural societies, for example, African-Caribbean Society, Hindu Society, Korea Society, and Arab Society. As well as political organisations tackling racism in Oxford such as the autonomous Student Union Campaign for Racial Awareness and Equality (CRAE) and Rhodes Must Fall in Oxford. I’ll also be accompanying people to some of these events if anyone wants company walking over.
The most important aspect of my role is representing you and doing my best to improve your welfare. I’m always around to talk, whether it’s about suggestions on how I can improve what I’m doing as BME officer or about more personal issues. I’ve applied to be a peer supporter, hopefully I’ll be training in Michaelmas, and I’m very discrete. I’ll do my best to help with anything you come to me with.
